Mersea Island is unique and so is the Victory, its staff, location and, we are sure, your enjoyment when you visit the real thing very soon. We actually like our customers, which is reflected in the standards of service and the relaxed atmosphere.
The Victory is situated right on the waterfront with fantastic views over the Blackwater, a 10 minute walk from the centre of West Mersea and close to the centre of the oldest part of the island. Not far down the road is the original Victory pub, now a private cottage, and we have based the concept of the Victory around England’s most famous warship and it’s legendary commander, Lord Nelson. The combination of great teamwork, the desire to produce the best results and never being afraid to be different, gives our customers a memorable experience and the desire to return.

To Eat, to Drink
Good food is at the heart of what we do, along with a selection of the best wines from around the world. We use the finest local ingredients to create the best in casual dining, whether from the Captain’s Table or Galley menus. There is a wide variety of dishes that put a contemporary touch on traditional pub cuisine, ranging from great steaks and fish, to homemade pies and pasta and on Sundays what we, and many others, say is the best roast lunch on the island. Many of the dishes can be ordered in smaller portions for children or grown-ups with small appetites.
To stay
We have 3 really comfortable, superior quality rooms, all individually decorated with a personal touch and all with sea views.
This is the ideal place for a weekend or midweek break, off the beaten track, while only an hour from London and a million miles away from the sterile atmosphere and service of the large hotels.
You may have family coming to stay and no room to put them up, or working on the island and don’t fancy the long drive home, or just fancy a long lunch at the Company Shed. Whatever the case, each room has a spacious en-suite bathroom (there’s even a spa bath in room 1), along with colour television. And two of the rooms have direct access to the large private balcony overlooking the waterfront.
